Dear Friends and Family,
There is so much happening that I do not know where to being. I hope that you are all well. I miss you terribly! The weather sure has been incredible lately. I would love to tell you that we were able to start back up again but not having our facility completed has several setbacks. First and foremost, the herd will be getting physicals, vaccines, and dental exams within the next week or two. I always feel better having that completed prior to starting. Secondly, the indoor arena is currently occupied with some stored winter items. In the meantime, we will be cleaning tack and preparing materials for lessons. I will offer as many opportunities as possible for you to come out and groom your equine friend. You never know, if it continues to dry up, we might even get in a ride or two...
When we do officially start up in full swing again, we will be having lessons on Monday afternoon and evening. I apologize for the inconvenience, but with trailering issues as well as some personal conflicts, we feel this is in our best interest. We will pick up a second day when spots fill up. If I had to guess, I would say it would be Tuesday, but we are waiting to see what day our veterans program will start before we will know for sure.
With the start of our veteran's program, we will need more volunteers. Please spread the word! We are searching for an appropriate name for this program. Horses for heroes is very common, but if you have any ideas, please share!
New this year we will also offer family rides of up to five riders the second and fourth Saturday of the month starting in June. I am big on family involvement and have seen how much our riders enjoy riding with their friends and family. We have done this on occasion, but would like to offer it as a scheduled occurrence. These will focus on trail riding with some warm-ups or group activity. We will share more information as we get closer to June.
Our Summer Camps are set and posted on our website. We will be advertising this year so that I can have correct shirt sizes and enough help for each camp. I like our friends and family to have the first opportunity to schedule. There are two camps for our riders with disabilities. The first, hearts and hooves, in June is strictly for riders with disabilities. The second, All abilities camp, is great for our riders with disabilities and a sibling or friend that wants to come to camp with them. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in either camp. The other camps are open to the general public and all fill up rather quickly.
Aside from the "Week of Giving," we will host our first fundraiser, the Nite at the Races on April 8th! This has been a huge success in the past and we anticipate another exciting event. If you know of any businesses willing to donate items for auctions please let me know. Also, we thinking of your horse and or jockey name as they sell out fast as well. Look to our Facebook page for more information regarding the races.
I can't wait to see you!
