As I try to wrap my mind around all that has occurred in the last 24 hours, I ponder about the definition of success and how it is measured. It seems that my goals and that of the Lord were different from one another, which is often the case. He usually has an unmistakable way of showing it, seems to fit this scenario. My goal was to get the word out into the community and see what the response was, possibly meeting and building relationships with people that could benefit from our services. Well, the word is out, without a doubt, and I did meet some very special individuals....There is always the obvious goal of raising money when you have a fundraiser. I have to say that even without a count from the RRR Roadhouse $12,000 + is more than I ever dreamed of raising. Although it's not quite enough to excavate, it is now within reach!! The most staggering measure of success was in the support itself. As word spread to the paper and onto the radio, I started to have doubt in myself. Although I have heard a great deal of support, I guess that I needed to see it; making me the one with little faith! I needed to see the people closest to me and to know that we were in this together; good or bad. It's not so much about believing in me, but supporting the cause.
Whoever desires to be great among you must be your servant.
Mark 10:43
I am committing my life to serve others, to give of my time, share my talents, all for the joy and fulfillment of someone else. Yesterday, you did that for me. You were there despite torrential downpours, tornado warnings, and wet shortcake...you were there when my well had run dry. How can I ever thank you enough? Thank you for painting faces, serving, cakes, and giving more than I thought you could! I can say that I will NEVER forget it!!!
